Tayshaun Prince was selected in the first round by the Detroit Pistons in the 2002 NBA Draft. Since entering the league, Tayshaun has been regarded as one of the best Piston defenders. He also kept up his defensive efforts that season being named All NBA Defensive Second Team.
Tayshaun Prince hails from the highly touted University of Kentucky basketball program. At Kentucky, he earned a reputation as a great defender and agile scorer. Tayshaun was named a second-team Associated Press All-American after his junior season and a third-team AP All-American after his senior season. In his four years with the Cats, he averaged 13.1 points per game and finished as the seventh-leading scorer in UK history.
In the 2006-2007 season, Prince recorded 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Prince also helped lead his team to the 2007 NBA Playoffs.
